Community Objection

Background To The Community Objection Process:

The Municipality of Harrison Park, despite the input and advice from our True Neighbours Alliance, has chosen to allow the operation of short-term rentals in RG (residential) zones.

Pursuant to the STR Licencing Bylaw, STR operators must obtain a STR licence and must apply for Conditional Use Permits in order to operate their business. All residents are entitled to object to the Conditional Use applications. Those applications may exceed a hundred in number, as there are dozens of existing STRs in various neighbourhoods in and around Onanole. Applications may be submitted to council at any time, including periods when residents may be absent from the area and may be unable to object in person or in writing.

The basis for objecting will be similar in all residential neighbourhoods. Consequently, we have prepared a common objection template for registering an objection to any and all applications.

We have divided the common objection template into neighbourhood districts. We will submit these objections to the Council as a means to simplify and clarify the objection process. Signatures to this neighbourhood objection will be presented to council as a personal objection.

However, everyone is welcomed and encouraged to submit a personal objection in writing or in person to any STR conditional use applications, particularly if personal experiences and objections are not outlined in this document.
